Oct 31, 2016 · Mobile patient portals let providers engage with the patients outside of the doctor’s office and on the go, working with patients when it is convenient for them. As more patients begin to demand more convenient ways to access their physicians and their healthcare, providers may consider the benefits of going mobile.
Mobile health is part of the wider “eHealth” movement, which is using technology such as computers, mobile phones, mobile health apps and patient monitors for health services and information. Both mobile health and eHealth help providers get the information they need to improve health care outcomes and lower costs.
Providers use mobile health apps for clinical decision support around the time of a patient’s visit. For example, providers can use mobile health apps to perform searches or access clinical reference tools such as Epocrates ®. Mobile health apps also help providers monitor and follow up with patients.

It also serves as a record where you, or an insurance provider, can verify that billed services were actually provided. It can also be a tool for educating health professionals, medical research, public health officials responsible for protecting and improving community health. Finally, it can be a tool used by the health center to continually assess the customer experience so improvements can be made to care delivery that enhance the overall patient experience.
