For your comfort, you are welcome to bring pajamas and other personal items from home. We recommend packing a cell phone and/or tablet with a charger to help stay in touch with loved ones.

For your protection, public access to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital is limited to the emergency department entrance after 8 p.m. All other outer entrances of the facility are locked during the night. A fire alarm override has been provided for access to the building by emergency personnel in the event of a fire.

Visitors in the Emergency Department are permissible at the discretion of the nurse and/or physician caring for the patient. As a rule, the number of visitors will be restricted to two. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Visitors may need to leave under certain conditions as determined by the physician.
The Gift Shop is operated by volunteers from the MedStar St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. Located in the main lobby, the shop carries a wide range of gifts, cards, balloons, flowers, snacks, and reading materials. For information on volunteering or to reach the Gift Shop, please call 301-475-6153.
