What are my rights and responsibilities to KGH?

You have certain legal rights, including a right to have your information processed fairly and lawfully and a right to access any identifiable information we hold about you. You have the right to privacy and to expect KGH to keep your information confidential and secure.

What happens if you miss an appointment at the KGH?

If you have any queries please call: 01536 493300 or email kgh-tr.appointments.centre@nhs.net Failure to attend an appointment without letting us know can result in you being taken off the outpatient waiting list and referred back to your GP.

How do I submit a release of medical information to KHSC?

If you are, please fax your completed and signed consent form to the KHSC Release of Information department using this fax number: 613-542-8071. When completing your form, please clearly state what specific medical information you wish to have released and to whom you wish to have this information released to.

What is consent in healthcare?

‘Consent’ is a patient’s agreement for a health professional to provide care. You may consent verbally or non-verbally (for example by presenting your arm to have your pulse or blood pressure taken or in writing by signing a document).

Does the NHS provide free hospital care?

The NHS provides free hospital treatment for people who are “Ordinarily Resident” in the UK. (Ordinarily resident is defined as “living lawfully (not as a visitor) in the United Kingdom voluntarily and for settled purposes as part of the regular order of their life for the time being, with an identifiable purpose for their residence here that has sufficient degree to be properly described as “settled””.

Is the NHS free to everyone?

Some NHS services are free to everyone regardless of the status of the patient: Accident & Emergency treatment is free to all until the patient is admitted as an inpatient or given an outpatient appointment. Family Planning Services are free to all (this does not include termination of pregnancy).

Where is the entrance to KGH?

Entrance 1 is at the top of the hill on Rothwell Road leading down to entrance 4 just before the railway bridge. Remember smoking is not allowed anywhere, on any KGH sites.

How far is Kettering Hospital from the train station?

Travelling by rail. Kettering Railway Station is on the Midland Main Line (St. Pancras - Sheffield). The station is approximately 1 mile from the Hospital (follow road signs to General Hospital) and is approximately 20 minutes walk. Taxis are available from the station forecourt.

Latest updates on visiting restrictions

We have partially lifted visiting restrictions for adult inpatients who do not have COVID-19. Visits must be pre-booked with the ward and visitors must show evidence of a negative lateral flow test, and only one visitor will be permitted for one hour per day. Visiting in maternity and paediatrics remains the same. Find out more

Your Hospital Appointment

If you need to change or cancel your appointment please call the department as soon as possible, so that the appointment can be allocated to another patient. As part of the NHS Constitution, we are committed to ensuring that no patient should wait longer than 18 weeks for hospital treatment.

Personal medication
