Joslin Adult Clinic In Joslin's Adult Clinic each new patient is assigned to a care team, made up of endocrinologists, certified diabetes educators, nutritionists and exercise physiologists.

That meant having the portal talk with our electronic medical record system, Nextgen. The portal is open source software — it came free to us and we are paying a company to adapt it for our use--but when the portal was designed there never was any intent that it would interface with Nextgen, so that engendered a whole separate design and development effort.

The Ophthalmic Clinical Support Coordinator assists the ophthalmologists and clinical assistants to facilitate patient flow in the Beetham Eye Institute. S/he will also provide support to Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Center and may assist the ophthalmologists in various minor surgical procedures including laser treatments. * Work with CAs to ensure all rooms are stocked * Coordinating MD placement in rooms on busy days * Problem solving for MDs and techs when issues arise, including NextGen problems, computer problems ,instrument problems, scheduling issues, and problems with patients * Working with Tech Supervisor to ensure smooth clinic operation * Teaching and coaching Medical Assistants in their duties * Continuously finding new ways to maximize space and improve efficiency * Manage all patients receiving injectable drugs (our major procedure at the BEI) and their insurance * Run and coordinate all injection clinics with Tech Supervisor * Working with the MEEI to ensure all records are kept and reporting to the necessary parties * Working with Ophthalmologist in clinic, starting patients when S/he is without a fellow * Ensuring the clinic is well stocked with supplies * Getting MDs and techs supplies when they request/ getting new supplies we do not normally stock * Ordering supplies on Lawson database, from the MEEI pharmacy * Posting and managing Everseat online appointments * Working with Adult Diabetes staff to improve Everseat implementation * Point person for drug vendors including injectable drug vendors * Acting as a liaison between drug vendors and MDs, ensuring we can get all the tools and samples we need while minimizing wasted MD time * Changing documents and forms, keeping them up to date * Working with the front desk staff to ensure patients sign up fo Continue reading >>
