What is the patient portal and how does it work?

Our Patient Portal permits you to request prescription refills, view and download documents related to your medical care, and see all future scheduled appointments. Our system will authenticate you with the following information: last four digits of your social security number, your primary telephone number, your DOB, and your email address.

The Patient Portal is a secure website that allows you to communicate directly with your medical provider and their staff to cancel appointments, request and view lab and test results, and request medication refills. You can also view patient education materials about your current medications, test, lab results.

When will Intelichart start implementing new patient portal?

Beginning May 4th, 2021, our Practice will be implementing a new patient portal. If you are enrolled in our current Intelichart patient portal, you will have to re-register and create a new portal account. On that date, we will begin enrolling patients, at their office visits, for the new patient portal.

Is the new patient portal compatible with tablets?

Our new patient portal is now compatible with all mobile devices, including tablets and smart phones .

What is Island Family Medicine?

Island Family Medicine is a full-service family health care center. We utilize an electronic medical records system to increase the quality and timeliness of your care. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to perform and analyze X-rays instantaneously in-house, eliminating the need to drive to imaging centers and wait for results. We offer a lab on the premises where we can perform venipuncture and stat lab procedures.

Does Island Family Medicine have outside labs?

Yes, our office is contracted and staffed by Pathgroup that will complete outside lab orders from other providers. Your provider will receive the results from Pathgroup. Outside labs orders do not come back to Island Family medicine.

Does the Federal Motor Carrier cover DOT physicals?

Yes, Dr. J. Seaborn Blair III is approved by the Federal Motor Carrier to perform DOT physicals. Please note that most insurance companies do not cover this type of physical exam and you will be responsible for payment at the time of services.

Is wellness physical covered by insurance?

A wellness physical is typically covered at 100% by your insurance company and has specific guidelines set forth by your insurance company to be covered at this visit. Preventative care such as immunizations and annual screenings including required labs, will be discussed.

Can IFM accept walk ins?

Yes, we strive to accommodate all patients that have an urgent or acute problem whether you are an established patient of IFM or not. We accept walk-ins at 8:00AM and 1:30PM on a first come first serve basis Monday – Thursday and 8:00AM on Friday. Please be aware that although we do everything we can to eliminate your wait time, this type of appointment can experience longer than normal wait times.

Who is Mayank Patel?

Dr. Mayank Patel is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician who specializes in the field of Gastroenterology. Dr. Patel graduated from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Jamshedpur, India in 1978 earning a MBBS degree. In 1981, he became a Medical Doctor with permanent certification in the United States. He completed his Residency program at Jersey City Medical Center, an affiliate of UMDNJ in 1983 where he was the Chief Resident.

Who is Marina Grundman?

Marina Grundman joined Avenel Iselin Medical Group in 2005. She is a fluent speaker of English, Russian and Latvian. Prior to immigrating to the United States, Ms. Grundman was a professional classical musician. She graduated from the Latvian State Academy of Music with a Master of Arts degree in Musicology.
