What happens if I miss an appointment at Interlachen Pediatrics?

If you are unable to notify us, or notify us after 2 p.m. the day prior to the scheduled appointment, Interlachen Pediatrics will assess a $25.00 fee for the missed appointment/late cancellation. This fee is not covered by insurance and will not be billed.

When did Dr Emmert join Interlachen Pediatrics?

She joined Interlachen Pediatrics in 2001. Melanie H. Emmert, M.D., was born in Frankfort, KY. Following her education at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, she completed pediatric residency training at Arnold Palmer Hospital. Dr. Roitman-Geller received her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires Medical School.

Planning for the birth of your child is a busy time. We have developed this section of our website to assist in answering some common parents-to-be questions regarding our office and the registration process.

We look forward to meeting you and your family, however, during this time of heightened illness in the community our goal is to protect you and your baby. Therefore, we are canceling prenatal orientations until further notice. We are more than happy to answer questions you may have regarding our office via email or by phone. If you are currently expecting a baby and would like to learn more about the Interlachen Pediatrics family of doctors, nurses and staff, please join us for one of our monthly meet-and-greet meetings. The meetings begin at 12:30 p.m. and are held at both of our offices.

What is Interlachen Pediatrics?

Interlachen Pediatrics is dedicated to maintaining the privacy of your child's protected health information (PHI). In conducting our business we will create records regarding your child and the treatment and services we provide to your child. We are required by law to maintain the confidentiality of health information that identifies your child. We are also required by law to provide you with the following notice of our legal duties and the privacy practices that we maintain in our practice concerning your child's PHI. By federal and state law, we must follow the terms of the notice of privacy practices that we have in effect at that time.

When should an infant be seen for physical examination?

It is recommended that infants be seen as follows for physical examinations: two weeks, two months, four months, six months, nine months, 12 months, 15 months, and 18 months. After the infant immunizations are completed at 18 months, it is recommended that the child be seen on their second birthday and yearly thereafter.

Is Interlachen Pediatrics a lactation consultant?

Interlachen Pediatrics strongly supports the benefits of breastfeeding, however, we also recognize that every situation is different. Therefore, in order to assist our patients and their mothers to have an enjoyable and productive nursing experience, we recommend you take advantage of the opportunity to work with a lactation consultant while still in the hospital with your infant. One of our Board Certified Nurse Practitioners, Heather Bryant, is also a Certified Lactation Counselor and provides lactation consultations in our offices. Please contact our scheduling department or speak with your provider while in the office. We can also recommend other resources in the community to assist with your lactation needs.

Does Interlachen Pediatrics accept service animals?

Interlachen Pediatrics welcomes service animals accompanying a person with a disability requiring the use of a service animal. It is the responsibility of the family to care for the service animal while in our offices, including any possible accidents the service animal may have.

Is Interlachen Pediatrics a sensitive practice?

Interlachen Pediatrics strives to provide excellent care to your child (ren). We also understand divorce and/or separation is a sensitive subject. Therefore, we have developed the following information to help you understand your rights and responsibilities, as well as the policies and procedures of Interlachen Pediatrics.
