PIH benefits greatly from our affiliation with faculty and colleagues from Harvard Medical School, the Harvard School of Public Health, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This collaboration among a nonprofit organization, a medical school, a school of public health, and a teaching hospital is a fruitful model for leveraging the resources of the world’s leading academic institutions to inspire, enlist, and train others to address the pressing health inequities of our times.
PIH employs more than 18,000 people worldwide. More than 98 percent are members of the communities in which we work—and the majority of those are community health workers.
We have coordination and support offices in Boston, MA, and in Toronto, Canada. PIH works in communities in Haiti, Peru, Mexico, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Navajo Nation, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Through our response to COVID-19, we partner with state authorities in Massachusetts and with local and state governments and community organizations through our U.S. Public Health Accompaniment Unit.
