What is a virtual counseling service?

This service provides access to psychologists, marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors . These licensed counselors will be available to you via ongoing text communications, live chat, phone, video, or groupinars. Students must be on graduate or international student health plans in order to use this service.

What is Cougar Health Services?

WSU Cougar Health Services offers a range of health services for students on campus, including confidential and private Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Promotion, Medical Clinic, Pharmacy, and Vision Clinic.

Is Pullman Regional Hospital open?

Pullman Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department is open 24 hours, providing confidential care. Pullman Regional Hospital can offer care for victims of sexual assault and can offer prophylaxis treatment and education. The Social Services department can provide emotional support and counseling and help people learn about their options and additional community resources.

Student health fee

Every student taking seven or more credits in the fall and spring semesters and one or more credits in the summer is automatically charged a student health fee with tuition.

Students who pay the health fee receive access to a range of services at no additional cost, including:

Health fee coverage dates

Enrolled WSU students who have been charged the health fee have access to Cougar Health Services for the semester for which the fee was assessed.

Health fee opt-in

Students who are not required to pay the health fee but belong to one of these categories may choose to pay the health fee in order to access Cougar Health Services that semester.

Health fee refunds

The health fee is generally nonrefundable. However, students who are enrolled but not physically located at WSU Pullman may submit a Health Fee Petition Form to be considered for a refund.

Refill prescriptions

To request a refill of your prescription, you can call the pharmacy at 509-335-5742. Provide your name or student ID, name of the medication (s) and prescription number if available. If calling after hours, you may also leave a voicemail with your information and we will refill your prescription the following business day.

Transfer prescriptions

To transfer your prescriptions to our pharmacy, call us at 509-335-5742 and give us your information, including:

Text notifications

If you are signed up for text notification, we will send you a text when your prescription is ready and you can pick it up at your convenience. You can sign up for text notification in person or over the phone at any time, whether you’re filling your prescription for the first time or transferring it from another pharmacy.

Forms of payment

We accept most prescription drug insurance plans and the graduate/international student plans. We also accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

Student insurance and students not located in Pullman

Our pharmacy in Pullman can fill and mail maintenance medications to students who have a WSU graduate student assistant insurance plan or international student insurance plan who are not located in Pullman.

We can special order products for you and in most cases have the item the next business day.

Is WSU testing available?

Screening Testing is Not Available. WSU is no longer offering screening testing. CHS will provide diagnostic testing for students with symptoms that may indicate a possible infection with COVID-19, or who have had a known exposure to somebody who is positive for the virus.

Is nasal swab safe?

The process is generally safe. If you have a medical or mental health condition that impacts your ability to safely receive a nasal swab, or it’s something you want CHS to know before testing, please call us to make other testing arrangements.

How long do you have to stay home after a negative test?

If your test result is negative, and you have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, stay home and away from others for 14 days after your last contact with that person.
