The use of patient portals has followed the adoption of electronic health records. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, 41 percent of family practice physicians use portals for secure messaging, another 35 percent use them for patient education, and about one-third use them for prescribing medications.
Hannibal Regional Healthcare System is proud to announce the launch of the brand new FollowMyHealth Patient Portal. The FollowMyHealth Patient Portal offers enhanced features over the previous portal and gives providers and patients 24/7 access to their health records and better continuity of care. Having information archived electronically also allows both patients and providers to review archived information that may still be clinically relevant.
Communicating through the patient portal can save nurses and receptionists time as well, since message notifications are sent via email. Patient-to-doctor direct communication reduces the chance of miscommunication of medical issues and patient needs which can occur with phone calls.
