Our main office is located in Knoxville at one of East Tennessee’s premier medical centers, Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. We have additional offices in Morristown and Sevierville in order to conveniently provide elite high-risk pregnancy care throughout the region.

What happens at a prenatal appointment?

The goal of prenatal care is to provide excellent care for mother and baby during pregnancy and to prepare for delivery. During prenatal visits, tests are performed on both the mother and the baby to assess any potential risks, to treat any maternal or fetal complications, and to keep an eye on the growth and development of the fetus.

What is Fort Sanders perinatal center?

The Fort Sanders Perinatal Center offers services for pregnant women with preexisting diabetes and those diagnosed with gestational diabetes (those who develop diabetes during pregnancy). Our diabetes counselors develop an individualized care plan to assist you in successfully managing your diabetes during pregnancy. Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and maintain optimal blood glucose control in order to ensure the best possible outcome for you and your baby.

What is a nurse practitioner?

A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced training and education. Each of our nurse practitioners have earned a master’s degree and are board certified with specialties in women’s health and/or nurse midwifery. Our practitioners provide examinations, counseling, diagnostics and treatment.

Who is Jill Edds?

Our care coordinator, Jill Edds, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who provides personalized assistance for women with a variety of needs before, during, and after pregnancy. Needs may range from assistance with transportation, food, or housing to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and grief related to unanticipated pregnancy outcomes. She provides complete care for women and babies requiring additional services by serving as a liaison with referring obstetricians, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, and pediatric follow-up provider and sub-specialists.
