Manual physical therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy delivered with the hands as opposed to a device or machine. It is primarily used to treat musculoskeletal pain and disability. Treatment may include joint mobilization and manipulation (moving joints in specific directions and at different speeds to regain movement), muscle stretching, kneading and manipulation of muscles and resistance exercises designed to improve muscle activation and timing.
