Patients may contact the Patient Experience Office by mail, phone, e-mail or in person. If presenting a complaint, patients may be asked to provide written documentation or a summary of events. The Patient Experience Office will open a complaint and gather the necessary information to resolve the issue. Based on the findings, intervention and/or actions may be taken by the Clinic, Department or the Command. Valid concerns and complaints help us to identify areas for performance improvement.

The local Air Evacuation Office will notify the patient or treatment team if the patient is placed on the confirmed travel list, usually no later than 10:00 p.m. on the night before the flight. During travel to and from the airport and while onboard a Medical Evacuation aircraft, treatment will be provided by medical personnel staffing the ambulance or airframe. Please listen carefully and follow their instructions as they have specialized training in transporting patients with unique needs. Just like flying on a commercial airline, seat belts or other forms or physical restraints are required at all times during the flight to ensure patient safety. Air turbulence may cause major disruption onboard a plane transporting patients so follow instructions carefully as the medical staff is highly experienced in dealing with emergencies.

We report the same Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) used by many civilian health care practices to monitor quality of care provided in the MHS. Before posting HEDIS data, a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) certified auditor reviews and approves the measure process and data.
One measure is not an indication of a facility's quality. Sometimes a smaller population can make a measure move pretty drastically from quarter to quarter, so don't be alarmed if you see a dip or a spike.
