What is a CPE in chaplain services?

The Department of Chaplain Services provides accredited Level 1 and 2 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) to ministerial students, clergy, and interested lay people. Our CPE program is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) located at 55 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, Suite 835, Atlanta, GA 30308. What are the services of a chaplain?

Duke Raleigh Hospital chaplains offer spiritual care, counseling, and emotional support to our patients, families, and staff. The Chaplain Services Department also offers the following services: 1 Spiritual assessment, intervention, comfort, and nurturing 2 Facilitation and support of religious practices of all faiths and spiritual paths 3 Non-judgmental listening 4 Crisis intervention 5 Advocacy for patients and staff 6 Coordination of bereavement and decedent care services 7 Collaboration with all members of the health care team 8 Consultations on advance directives, end-of-life decisions, and ethical issues

The Chaplain Services Department also offers the following services: To request a visit from a chaplain on weekdays, call Chaplain Services at 919-812-7972. During the evening and weekends, ask your nurse to arrange for you to speak with a chaplain.

What is a case manager?

Case managers provide patient navigation services, working closely with the physician and health care team to coordinate your care during hospitalization to ensure you have the resources and services needed at discharge.
