At Zia Neurology Associates, we specialize in Multiple Sclerosis, Autonomic Nervous Dysfunction, and pain management of neurological disorders that may affect the patient’s brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. Symptoms may include headaches, seizures, dizziness, memory loss, and back pain.
Along with being a neurology specialist office, Zia Neurology is also a primary care practice with two family medicine nurse practitioners. Our facility is equipped with an on-site imaging center for X-ray & CT studies, as well as an in-house Autonomic Laboratory and EMG/NCS Laboratory.
Electromyography (EMG) is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and nerve cells that control the muscle (motor neurons).
Electroencephalogram (EEG) measures brainwave activity to evaluate brain dysfunction using safe and painless electrodes (flat metal discs) affixed to your scalp.
Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is the part of the nervous system that controls blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow, body temperature, digestion, and other involuntary bodily functions.
Zia Neurology offers CT Scan and X-Ray radiology services. We house our own in-house radiology lab and a certified radiologist on staff.
January is National Cervical Health Awareness Month... Cervical cancer used to be the leading cause of cancer death for women in the United States. However, in the past 40 years, the number of cases of cervical cancer and the number of deaths from cervical cancer have decreased significantly.

Endometriosis is a common, benign disorder that is estimated to affect approximately 10% of women.
Myth #3: Endometriosis causes infertility. Yes, it is true that endometriosis is present in a large portion of women with infertility issues. One reason for this could be endometriosis on the fallopian tubes that distort or block the tubes. In reality, this is rarely the finding that we see during surgery.
There is no genetic trait associated with endometriosis that has been shown to lead to cancer. There are some very rare types of ovarian cancers – clear cell and endometrioid cancer – that seem to be more common in women with endometriosis, but even with these rare cancers the risk is less than 1%.
There are two ways to be screened to help prevent cancer or find it early: the Pap Test (papsmear) and HPV test. The Pap test looks for precancer cells on the cervix that might become cancer if they are not treated appropriately. The HPV test screens for Human Papillomavirus that can cause changes within your cells.
