The Emergency Medical Technician course (EMS 201) is a 9.5 unit, 18 week (1 semester) course that meets approximately 10 hours per week. Students attend lectures, complete skills lab practice, and participate in clinical externship hours. EMS 201 presents the techniques of emergency medical care presently considered within the responsibilities of the Emergency Medical Technician I. Students learn the fundamental principles and skills required to provide emergency medical care for patients at the scene of an accident or with the onset of sudden illness and during transport to a medical facility.
