Patients without insurance receive bills directly. Once a bill is received, patients are given 21 days to pay their bills in full. The due date will be noted on your bill. Cooley Dickinson Hospital can arrange flexible payment options (payment plans) upon request.
The Physician Network program is available to Hampshire County residents who do not qualify for state healthcare programs and have no other access to health insurance. It is not an insurance program but the network offers its members medical services and procedures on a sliding-scale fee.
Hampshire HealthConnect helps uninsured and underinsured people access health coverage through the Massachusetts Health Connector. We are a program offered by Cooley Dickinson Hospital. We offer a walk-in, first-come, first-serve service. Walk-in slots are limited. Please note: Registration for walk-in sessions begins 30 minutes before the start of a session, 8:30 am for the 9 am session and 12:30 pm for the 1 pm session. If you are turned away due to a walk-in session being full, please return at another session.

Coinsurance. Coinsurance is a percentage of the health care bill that you pay. For example, you pay 20% and your insurance company pays 80%. Your out-of-pocket cost is based on the total amount that your insurance has allowed for the visit, NOT on the hospital charges.
A health service or item that is included in your health plan, paid for either partially or fully. Covered benefits and excluded services are defined in the health insurance plan’s coverage documents.
Copayment/Copay. Copayments are set amounts you pay when you go to a health care provider. Providers usually collect copayments at the visit. Copayment amounts are listed on your health insurance card. For example, ER copay = $50.
Out-of-pocket costs include deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments for covered services plus all costs for services that are not covered.

If your physician ordered laboratory tests or imaging services (such as X-ray, CT or MRI), you will be billed for these tests by the hospital, clinical laboratory, or imaging center, and you may also be billed for the services of the physicians (usually pathologists and radiologists) who interpreted the test results.
Virtual Urgent Care is a service made available by providers at Cooley Dickinson Urgent Care – Amherst, and billing procedures for virtual visits will conform to that location’s specifications (re-posted below). Virtual Urgent Care is only available within the state of Massachusetts.
Cooley Dickinson Urgent Care offers virtual video visits for treatment of non-life-threatening illnesses that do not require X-rays, interventions, or lab work. Conditions such as allergies, rashes, eye irritation, and similar complaints can often be addressed effectively from the comfort of your own home.
