Is it safe to visit Cook Children's?

Cook Children's Pediatric Surgery Center Please check-in at Patient Registration on the day of your appointment to complete the registration process and receive directions to your appointment location. We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to ensure that you have time to complete all the necessary steps.

If you have questions about your insurance coverage, co-payments or deductibles, contact your insurance provider.

Pre-registration

You may register any time prior to your appointment day. There may be additional paperwork to complete when you arrive for your appointment, so make sure to arrive early. Planning your route, knowing where your appointment is located, and where to park, will save you time.

Health care situations, including hospitalization and medical procedures, can be stressful for children of all ages. Preparing your child ahead of time might reduce his anxiety, as well as help her cope.

Hospitalization through a child's eyes

Your child's greatest concern is being away from you. Being with your child as much as possible during their stay will make your child feel more secure. Younger children, especially those under age 3, often think going to the hospital is a punishment for misbehavior. Explain that this is not the case.

If your child has an upcoming appointment that requires forms and information to be completed or updated, you can now do so before your appointment, in your MyCookChildren's portal account.

Our highly skilled physicians cover more than 30 specialties and subspecialties, which allows your patients to receive outstanding care, all in one place. Our International Patient Services team will review each case and recommend the best treatment plan for a child visiting Cook Children's.

What is a mychild?

MyChildren’s is a convenient, easy-to-use, and secure way to access your child’s health information. Using MyChildren’s, you can: view portions of your child’s health record. send secure messages to your care team. view and update your contact information. view and pay your bills online.

How to contact MyChildrens?

For help with the portal, you can fill out our support form at mychildrens.org/help or call the MyChildren’s Support Team at 617-919-4396 Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

When can parents access their child's information?

Parents will no longer have access to their child’s information once the patient turns 18. The patient cannot grant access to a parent to restore access. My child with special needs is over the age of 18.

When are clinical notes available?

Clinical notes are available as soon as your provider completes them. Lab results — including tests done in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department settings — will display as soon as they are resulted. Diagnostic test reports are available as soon as they are resulted.

Can I set up a MyChildren's account?

Can I set up a MyChildren’s account? Yes, as long as you have guardianship papers on file with Boston Children’s , you can access your child’s information with your MyChildren’s account. If you have the guardianship papers, you can email the PDF documents to mychildrenssupport@childrens.harvard.edu.
