It is a unique, paid 9-week program in partnership with the Delaware Skills Center and ChristianaCare Health System that integrates classroom and clinical components. The first portion of the programs requires successful completion of the 6-week Certified Nursing Assistant Course. The individual will take the Delaware State Test for Nurse Aide Certification. The candidate will then transition to a clinical environment within ChristianaCare and complete 3 weeks of on-site training.
The patient care technician supports activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse. PCT candidates must demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary for providing care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Primary job duties include, but are not limited to, performing and accurately recording vital signs and Accu-Cheks, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding and mobilizing patients.
Our Student Nurse Externship begins two different times each year in the beginning of January and June.
