At Cheyenne Women’s Imaging Pavilion, we believe that the patient’s experience is as important as the accuracy of the results. We also understand the stress that can come from visiting a medical imaging center.
Our team works together to provide women and their physicians with accurate imaging and interpretation that can be critical to timely healthcare decisions. A combination of advanced digital technology along with highly trained and experienced staff enables Cheyenne Women’s Imaging Pavilion to provide results quickly and confidently.
In addition to providing women with accurate, timely services in a welcoming environment, Cheyenne Women’s Imaging Pavilion educates patients on the services we provide. Here are a few questions we regularly answer from our patients:
Radiology is the branch of medicine that uses X-rays, ultrasound, magnetic resonance and radiopharmaceuticals to create images of the body. In other words, radiology is used to view what is happening in parts of the body that cannot otherwise be seen. The resulting images help doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury.
Interventional radiology is a subspecialty of radiology that uses medical imaging to diagnose and guide the treatment of medical conditions via needle-puncture of the skin. Many interventional radiology treatments have eliminated or reduced the need for surgery.
Examinations that require ionizing radiation, such as those involving X-rays, are performed at closely monitored levels that are considered to be safe based on years of rigorous testing.
A Radiologist is a Doctor of Medicine who has completed college, medical school and a residency program in radiology. Our Radiologists are all certified by the American Board of Radiology. Many have completed additional subspecialty training by participating in a fellowship program beyond their residency.
Digital X-ray is a form of X-ray imaging in which digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Fluoroscopy allows the radiologist to view the movement of internal organs on a screen or monitor. SPECT/CT is a specialty in Medical Imaging. Patients receive a radioactive substance that produces energy.
Electronic Medical Information Exchange is a vendor-neutral, cloud-based technology developed to securely share medical images and reports between different healthcare facilities, physicians and patients with the speed and simplicity of e-mail.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses radio frequency waves and strong magnetic field to provide remarkably clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues.
The technique has proven very valuable for the diagnosis of conditions in all parts of the body, including: Breast MRI is an imaging system that used magnets and radio waves to create pictures of the breast and surrounding tissues. Mammography is a safe and noninvasive X-ray technique.
Picture Archiving and Communications Systems is an electronic image delivering system that integrates radiography imaging and patient information electronically throughout the hospital network. PACS minimizes the use of conventional X-ray film.
