Catalina Island Medical Center’s laboratory department serves patients of all ages in the Emergency Department, Medical Group Office, Inpatient and Outpatient areas. If you have a doctor on the mainland, we do accept laboratory orders from doctors who are not on the island.

Catalina Island Medical Center is pleased to introduce Dr. Aimee Warren, the new permanent family practice physician for the Medical Group Office. “Dr. Warren is a caring and compassionate healthcare provider,” commented CIMC’s CEO Jason Paret. “She is an outstanding addition to our medical team.”
Mental and behavioral health assessments and therapy are provided at CIMC via in-person face-to-face visits, teletherapy, and virtual visits for adults, children and families. These services can help people struggling with such issues such as: anxiety, depression, adjustment to major life issues, grief, trauma, anger and stress management, substance abuse and children’s behavioral problems.
CIMC’s primary care physicians and family nurse practitioner provide the island community with a solid foundation of care. When specialty care is needed however, a trip to the mainland is not always necessary, thanks to the visiting specialist providers who regularly provide services at CIMC.
Catalina Island Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Edwin McGroarty as our newest clinic physician. Dr. McGroarty has been a physician for more than 20 years, specializing in Family and Emergency Medicine. He is also a military veteran, having served 10 years in the United States Navy. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
The Medical Group Office (MGO) is located at 100 Falls Canyon Road, up the street from Avalon’s City Hall on the bottom level of the hospital.
Catalina Island Medical Center offers Chronic Care Management (CCM) services to our patients for patients 65 years and older and patients who have Medicare coverage regardless of age who have two or more chronic conditions that are expected to last at least 12 months that increases the risk of death, the illness getting worse or permanently affecting their ability to do their normal activities. The goal is to keep patients as healthy as possible, keep patients out of the hospital, minimize costs as much as possible and continue to provide patients with the best care.
Catalina Island Medical Center is proud to announce the promotion of longtime registered nurse Santa Dominguez. Santa has worked in the healthcare field for 30 years, including more than 25 spent serving the people of Avalon. She has extensive experience working with both children and older adults living with dementia.
Once you arrive at the medical group, you will be seen by your scheduled provider. Every attempt will be made to make sure you are seen at your appointed time, but please understand that emergencies may cause a delay. Other patients may have appointments with a different provider, and may be called to their appointment before you, even if you arrived before they did.
Catalina Island Medical Center’s Diagnostic Imaging Department provides a range of technologies to fulfill the imaging needs of the Catalina Island patient population.
Radiology studies can be distributed to patients and providers via computer disc.
Long-term care is available at CIMC’s skilled nursing facility, which is supported by physicians, nurses, a medical social worker, physical, occupational and speech therapists, a dietitian, and an activities program.
