A therapeutic, personalized program, the Bredesen Protocol identifies, targets, and treats the root cause of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease—unlike pharmaceuticals, which simply mask symptoms. The Bredesen Protocol looks at each person as a whole system and identifies individual metabolic imbalances that have led to the programmed ...
Beginning in 2016 Dr. Bredesen invited a select group of 60 healthcare providers to The Buck Institute for training in The Bredesen Protocol. These included nutritionists, family medicine and internal medicine physicians, chiropractors, psychologists, and health coaches. Included in this group of providers was Dr. Ken Sharlin, medical doctor and board-certified neurologist who has …
Dr. Lee and Dr. Board are both certified in the Bredesen’s protocol for treatment of early Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. This protocol is meant to slow the progression of the disease in individuals who are in the early stages of cognitive decline. The protocol includes hormone testing, nutritional testing, APOE testing, MARCONS, and several of the testing Dr. Dale …
This is a comprehensive medical review of your condition, your presenting symptoms and current concerns, diagnostic tests and test results, treatments and treatment experiences. A complete neurological examination will be performed. This allows Neurologist Dr. Ken Sharlin to have an “anchoring point” to begin your functional medicine journey.
Dr. Sharlin and his entire team of specialists want to make sure your visit to the clinic has been truly rewarding and you are armed with the tools you need for lasting change. The conclusion of this will consist of a brief review with Cāllie Maggard, Brain Tune Up! Program Coordinator, so that you are scheduled for your next steps with us.
I have integrated Dr. Bredesen’s Protocol for Reversal of Cognitive Decline into my Brain Tune Up! Program to give participants interested in this specific approach a practical way to apply these complex principles in their lives.
Cāllie will collect a brief history of the problem that your chief concern. If your records and insurance information can be sent to the clinic it will allow us to plan ahead if any additional testing/evaluation might need to be done (i.e., MRI Brain with NeuroQuant, lumbar puncture for Alzheimer’s biomarkers, or ApoE genotyping).
You arrive to clinic where you will personally meet with neurologist Dr. Ken Sharlin for a review of your medical history, neurological physical examination, functional medicine timeline and matrix. We will draw half of the laboratories on this day.
The second half of laboratory tests are drawn (including fasting labs). You will undergo a transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) session for neuroplasticity followed by BrainHQ or another appropriate program.
You will personally meet with Dr. Sharlin where he will review your MRI of the brain with NeuroQuant, lumbar puncture results, and ApoE status, if applicable.
On day 2 you will review your Brain Tune Up! laboratory results, and for those who have registered for a ReCODE report this will be reviewed with you, as well. Based on your test results Dr. Sharlin will initiate a targeted nutraceutical regimen to correct imbalances in nutrients, oxidative stress markers, and inflammation.
Visit with Neurologist Dr. Ken Sharlin where he will review your progress in the program, including nutrition, movement, sleep quality, stress resilience practice, nutraceuticals, tDCS and BrainHQ.
More specifically, this protocol is aimed at reversing cognitive decline as well as conditions like Alzheimer’s disease. Subsequently, it considers all the factors in an individual’s live that can drive cognitive decline. Furthermore, it looks to correct as many of these factors as possible to improve the patient’s cognition.
The Bredesen ReCODE Protocol was developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen. Dr. Bredesen is also well-known for his revolutionary research and insights into Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline. Dr. Horzempa has completed his training in the ReCODE Protocol through MPI Cognition and the Institute for Functional Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Horzempa is listed on Dr. Bredesen’s website.
Our Coastal Integrative Medicine doctors participated in a 2018 Case Study which shows the "first examples of reversal of cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease and the pre-Alzheimer's disease" using the ReCODE™ approach.
Make an initial appointment with us for an extended ReCODE™ Assessment. You will have additional neuropsychological testing and functional brain mapping at this first appointment. (Cost: $1,295)
To request more information about the ReCODE™ Protocol, please call (910) 355-0442 or contact us online.
Dr. Dale Bredesen, CSO for Apollo Health, was the first neurodegenerative disease researcher to publish peer-reviewed groundbreaking studies on reversing cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease. Everyone knows a cancer survivor, but no one knows an Alzheimer’s survivor, until now.
Apollo Health is building the first-ever community around the prevention and reversal of cognitive decline. Our vision is to build communities that support our participants throughout their journeys to manage brain health. Our community members have access to the resources and guides they need to be successful.
PreCODE is intended for individuals who are asymptomatic and interested in prevention of cognitive decline. It was designed for adults of any age with a family history of dementia, with risk factors such as pre-diabetes or inflammation, and for all of us who are over 45 years of age.
Dale Bredesen’s career has been guided by a simple idea: that Alzheimer’s as we know it is not just preventable, but reversible. Thanks to a dedicated pursuit of finding the science that makes this a reality, his idea has placed Dr. Bredesen at the vanguard of neurological research and led to the discoveries that today underlie the ReCode Report.
The Cq Assessment is comprised of the AQ-6 Questionnaire, a subset of the AQ-21 (a proven informant-based screening questionnaire for Alzheimer disease), and an abbreviated CNS Vital Signs assessment (that evaluates executive function , speed processing , verbal and visual memory).
