Absence Notes

Under the University of Minnesota's Make-up Work for Legitimate Absence Policy, Boynton Health does not provide absence notes. The policy explains what you need to do if you miss class or coursework. Learn more about the absence note policy.

What is non preventive care?

Non-preventive care services are intended to treat or diagnose acute, existing or ongoing health concerns. Your health insurance provider will require a co-payment for these office visits, as well as additional payment to cover the full cost of services.

Is preventive care covered by insurance?

Even if you scheduled a preventive care visit, non-preven tive services may occur depending on concerns expressed or findings revealed during your visit. If you receive both types of care (preventive and non-preven tive) at your visit, the preventive services will be covered by your insurer.

Does health insurance cover preventive care?

Under the Affordable Care Act, when you visit a network provider, your health insurance covers preventive care services at 100 percent. See a full list of the preventive care services covered under the Affordable Care Act on the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services website.

Who Can Be Tested at Boynton

COVID-19 testing from Boynton is available to all University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff systemwide.

About COVID-19 Testing Appointments

Boynton Health offers COVID-19 testing by appointment only to University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff systemwide. Testing is done within a secured area of the Recreation and Wellness Center (RecWell). Limited hours available for testing at the St. Paul Clinic in Coffey Hall as well.
