What to do if you bring valuables to the hospital?

Valuables. If you bring any valuables to the hospital and they cannot be sent home, we recommend placing them in the hospital safe during your stay. If you need items secured, let your nurse know or call our Public Safety Department at 773-296-5300.

In keeping with Advocate Health Care’s mission to promote health and wellness, smoking is not allowed anywhere on any hospital campuses, courtyards, parking towers or parking lots. This policy pertains to patients and visitors as well as physicians, associates and volunteers.

Senior Advocate: Senior Advocate is a special program of services and benefits to promote a healthy and independent lifestyle for people 65 and older. Exercise programs, monthly breakfast talks and free health screenings are available for members of Senior Advocate.

Where is the outpatient registration area at Trinity Hospital?

The outpatient registration area is located on the main floor of Trinity hospital adjacent to the front lobby information desk. This registration area accommodates all outpatient services such as radiology, lab, EKG, nuclear medicine, physical therapy and the ambulatory care center. Patients should enter through the main hospital entrance.

What time does the emergency department open?

Saturday: 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Sundays, holidays and after hours, patients need to report to the emergency department registration, which is open 24 hours. During the registration process, each patient or the next of kin is required to sign a health care consent form.

What questions do anesthesiologists ask?

The anesthesiologist will ask you a variety of questions relating to your health history and will determine the mode of anesthesia that you will be receiving (i.e., general, spinal, etc.). The anesthesiologist will also discuss different types of medication used for pain following your surgery.

What happens after surgery?

Recovery room: Following surgery, you will be transported to the recovery room until you are fully awake, oriented, vital signs are stable and postoperative pain is under control. Your family will be kept informed of how long you will be in recovery and when you will be transported to a floor.

What time does the hospital open on Saturday?

Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m. Newspapers: Newspapers are available in coin-operated machines in the hospital’s main lobby, near the emergency department and in front of the Professional Office Building.

What does DNR mean in CPR?

Do-not-resuscitate order. You also may ask your doctor about a do-not-resuscitate order (DNR order). A DNR order means that cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) will not be started if your heart stops. You and your doctor may decide together that your doctor should write a DNR order into your medical chart.

How to contact a nurse for a code help?

Contact the nurse using your call button if you notice a change in the way you (the patient) or your loved one looks, acts or feels. If you (the patient) or family member feel the patient is not receiving adequate medical attention you may call a Code Help. A care team will respond to the Code Help by visiting the patient, assessing the situation, and treating the patient as necessary. Part of the admission process included signing a Health Care Consent Form that covered important information regarding your stay. If you did not read this form in its entirety, we recommend you do so.

Where is the ATM machine in the hospital?

An ATM machine is located in the main hospital on the first floor across from the Cashier. There is also one in the Walgreens Pharmacy on the ground floor of the Outpatient Pavilion.

What do you need to wear to hospital?

During your hospital stay, you will only need a few personal items, such as toiletries, bathrobe, slippers and a nightgown or pajamas. We do provide hospital attire which is often more practical during your first few days. After that, you may prefer to wear your own clothing.

How to make a long distance call?

Long distance calls can be made at any time by dialing 9.0. and the number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to your room, so the call must be placed with a calling card, pre-paid phone card or by calling collect. Your family and friends can call you by dialing 708-684-8000 and speaking to the operator.
