As part of HIXNY, Adirondack Health uses a patient portal to give patients access online to their medical records. The patient portal facilitates better communication with your physician's office by providing secure and convenient access from the comfort and privacy of your own home or office.
The completed form can be mailed, faxed or dropped off to the Health Information Management (HIM) Department, located at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. You will need a form of ID to pick up medical records (example: driver’s license) On the authorization form, you can indicate where you want your records sent.

From the login screen, click on the "Start Now!" button and follow the prompts.
You will need your username and password information to access the system.
After successfully logging in, the first screen you will see is the Home page. First time users should follow the prompts to complete the login process. Each time you login to the Patient Portal you can see notifications about Appointments and New Messages.
After each office visit, a report should be posted to this portal for you to view. Select the time range and then click the "Refresh" button. You can also select a time range from "this month", "last month", "this year", "last year" or "all time".
You are expected to see your lab results, the basic health history we've recorded in our office, and a Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) under "Health Record" session. Remember, this information includes electronic data only. Service information rendered prior to the electronic data will not be entered in to the system.

In addition, new technology known as navigational bronchoscopy provides thoracic surgeon Dr. Michael Hill, Chief of Surgery, an advantage in the early diagnosis and treatment of lung disease. This minimally invasive procedure uses GPS technology, similar to navigation systems used in vehicles, to help surgeons access hard-to-reach areas of the lung with great accuracy. This procedure is used to obtain lung tissue for biopsy, diagnosis and early treatment.
Scanning is fast, which is important for patients who have trouble holding their breath. Scanning is painless and non-invasive. Screening with low-dose CT has been proven to reduce the number of deaths from lung cancer in patients at high risk.
Early detection is a proven approach when it comes to treating most cancers, and Adirondack Health offers two innovative tools to detect and treat lung cancer.

Adirondack Health participates in a collaboration of health plans, hospitals, physician practices and other entities in a 17-county geography comprising the Capitol Region and northern New York, known as the Health Information Exchange of New York (HIXNY). The Health Information Exchange is different from the Health Insurance Exchanges that are being set up as part of the Affordable Care Act.
Adirondack Health utilizes an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) program so that your health-care provider has access to your health history in a timely and efficient manner. A comprehensive EMR allows medical professionals to access your health information from a secure source throughout the Adirondack Health system. We are committed to the privacy, security and confidentiality of your medical record.

To obtain copies of your radiology images, such as X-rays, CT scans or MRI films, please contact the Medical Imaging Department at 518-897-2944 .
You may choose to sign up for the Health Information Exchange (HIXNY), which means that, with your permission, a doctor may share your important health information with other doctors within the exchange region. Prior to health information exchanges, your doctor's office shared this information by mail, fax, or phone, which took time and sometimes doctors did not get all the information they needed.
